Collective Bargaining News

July 9, 2014

Dear Members,

I want to provide you with a brief update on collective bargaining.

AAPS and UBC began bargaining on June 11. The parties have a number of dates scheduled for bargaining in July. Unfortunately the University is unavailable for bargaining this summer after July 21. There are a number of dates now scheduled for September and October.

Preparations are already well underway for the 2014 round of collective bargaining expected to begin in late May. AAPS is the legal bargaining agent for management and professional staff at UBC and the current Collective Agreement between AAPS and UBC expires June 30, 2014. The Collective Agreement between AAPS and UBC sets the terms and conditions of employment for management and professional staff at UBC. The Collective Agreement determines wage levels, severance obligations, sick leave, and a variety of other non-monetary rights and responsibilities.

AAPS encourages members to be involved in the collective bargaining process. You can contribute your priorities for the 2014 round of collective bargaining by filling out this form by March 15, 2014. Please note, we are only collecting names and emails to ensure respondents are members of AAPS and your identity will remain confidential.

Other ways to get involved include participating in an in-person bargaining roundtable or responding to the soon-to-be released Member Workplace Experience Survey.
